Hi.Was just wondering if anyone can tell me how soon after eating low GI foods such as oats for brekky, say a fruit salad for lunch or a couple of banannas(I know all banannas are not low GI) and low fat yoghurt, generally how long before your body can use these foods to fuel your workouts?
    Thanks.Darren.

Low GI foods are not intended for workouts, but for all times in between. The reason is, the carb energy is only slowly released from these foods in the stomach, much to slowly to be of body building/workout use. Stimulants such as a cup or two of coffee (for the caffeine) would be better food pre-workout, whilst sipping a protein (like whey) with creatine during the workout in water. Immediately after the workout taking a 2:1 or more ratio of straight carbs (dextrose/malto dextrin) to protein in a drink and another meal, say within 1 1/2 to 2 hours. DA
