Mine is Kangaroo. I think it would make up 50% of my diet atm.

    Sausages
    Mince
    Steak
    Kebabs
    Diced

    Its all good!

    Anyone else rate kangaroo?

I can only rate roo meat as two things.

    Pet food

    Road kill

Ive try’d to like it, realy, but theres something about the taste I just cant get over, and Im not a fussy eater by any stretch. Maby I need to add more chilli ?

Although Ive go a mate down the snowy mts way who feeds his farm dogs on roo meat almost exclusively, they never get sick and run from sun up to sun down. Can’t argue with that.

Do you buy yours from a butcher or somewhere like Coles?

Personaly I find them a hazzard whenever I’m out riding in the country, so the more we kill and eat, the better.

Well I’ll start oiff with my main PROTEIN – Fish, thats sardines, salmon, shrimp, just occaisionally tuna (besause I got scared by the mercury thing).
Then theres eggs, mozarella cheese, occaisional fresh meat, sometimes canned ham.
    Whey concentrate.
    Thats about it. DA

Yeah, I could eat eggs till the cows swim home.

Does Pizza count? There’s got to be some protein in there.

Can’t find reasonably priced Kangaroo anywhere but have had some tasty goat recently.

Mrs Dr J is with you DA and loves the sardines.

Roasted duck is quite nice, when it comes to gamey protien.

I also was told rabbit, when cooked right, is really nice. Expensive too.

I remember rabbit from when I was a kid. Especially after one night when the car tagged a bunny, it was still flopping around at the side of the road when my Dads friend got out of the car and shot it with his .22.

The next day we ate it for Sunday lunch. The kidneys were best.

When I was younger still I remember Dad coming home with a rabbit (or hare) that hadn’t got out to the way of one of those grass cutters that hangs of the side a tractor.

    We had it for dinner.

Does that make my favorite protein road kill?

Strong taste though! I usually put extra coriander, black pepper & crushed chilli, to level it all out. DA

To dave996 probably!! To me It’s no different. Either the animal is killed in large amounts in slaughter houses, or you kill 1 on the road.

All food to me. Maybe one day we’ll have to hunt like that again…

It ain’t quite all the same unbuff.

If it is killed properly then it will be bled properly. If you kill it with a car then the butchering probably leaves a bit to be desired and the quality is likely to suffer.

I won’t eat bought roo. The industry is set up back to front. People are encouraged to shoot large males for meat. The quality meat will come from younger roos because they carry less parasites and will have a much better taste.

The roo in the supermarket is precisely the one that you would avoid if you were killing it yourself.

Fish is ok on occasion but the protein % is too low. Tuna is foul crap. πŸ˜€

    Eat more beef you suckers.

That’s easy to say when it it just wanders up to your kitchen door πŸ˜†

    That’s right. πŸ˜€

It’s always good too. Eating a big fat barren cow at the moment. About 5 years old and never had a calf, she wasn’t good for anything else. Having crumbed steak and veges for tea tonight. πŸ˜‰
