Full body is really the flavor of the month at the moment!

Arse to the grass squats are fine if you can maintain proper lordosis (curve in your back). Otherwise you should only go as low as good form allows. Usually this means from around parallel to butt to the floor.

Quarter squats should be called else ‘Partial Knee Extensions’ or something πŸ˜‰

To tell you the truth I’m a bit over this whole Westside Barbell Club thing!
Like its some kinda Mecca of strength training or something..there used to be gyms all over the world like this..but for the Industry to survive gyms had to evolve. And on the flip side show me one proffesional bodybuilder who trains in this fashion, I do agree that strength training should be the core of any workout but to tell you the truth I don’t want to look like powerlifter…I want to look like a Bodybuilder, show me a powerlifter and I’ll show you some fat guy who doesn’t train and …guess what they look the same!!! Its all just another trend..I’ve seen em come and we’ll see em go! πŸ˜‰

I find this type of training should work with me. Because of all the cardio I now do, I find that the ‘every other’ days were killing me if I was to train normally. I find that the powerlifting style really suits me now for the explosive strength incorporated in some of the lifts is exactly what I’m after.

I have to agree with Ian in relation to the whole westside thing. But seeing as though I haven’t been around to all of Australia’s gyms I’d like to know where in Oz is there a gym similar in style??????

North Sydney Police Boys Club? Well not really, but the weights have all got rust on them and the room next to the weights room has a boxing ring! All harks back to a kinder gentler time.

Well, maybe not kinder and maybe not gentler either.

It fills me with nostalgia and I’d probably train there if I had too but not out of choice. Unless I decided to give the sport of kings a crack.

Same type of training really…what’s your opinion on that post Ian?

I’ll be giving that program a try after the one I’m doing now for I badly need some size and strength on my chest!

I personally have found the transition in training methods mentally difficult. Meaning it was hard for me to go from split training to heavy full body (which is basically what it is). Although, now that I have gotten over it I’m really enjoying the change and the new feeling I get when I leave the gym. πŸ˜€

It doesn’t hurt to try new things…this is my life, so I’ve got a loooong time to lift weights and I don’t compete.

Its not a bad post..like anything in bodybuilding a change is as good as a rest πŸ™‚ But you are right in what you say the transition from split to whole BP training is the most difficult aspect of it.

And I hate to say…Its a long time to lift weights πŸ˜†
