I normaly only rep out on bodyweight dips after I complete my benches as a ‘finisher’. Ive never realy given weighted dips a red hot go. So for a change of pace the other night I decided to strap on enough weight to stall me between 6 and 8 reps, which in my case is about 70lbs at the moment, and bang out 2 or 3 sets.

Today, if I had to do 5 strict pushups, I might start crying like a bitch. Ive heard dips refered to as the ‘upper body squat’, now I understand why…

What style of dip are you using?

I dont know if you would call it a style as such, but I remember reading an article on dipping somewhere that recomended you treat the movement like a kind of severe decline press in so much as you try and keep your elbows tucked and back. Seems to work OK and dosn’t give my shoulder’s any grief.

Cant remember who wrote it, But it wasn’t Vince Gironda, thats for sure…
