Also, when getting to your heavier weights your intention to move the bar explosively is also important.
In regards to lightening the load, maybe you could try a more sets/less reps protocol aiming as Dr J says to hit 25 reps. i.e 8×3, 5×5, 4x6reps with 1 min rest periods.
