Nutrient timing does recommend 3 different types of shakes for pre, during and post.

Must get a copy of S2B so I can’t comment on the rec there.

There may be some benefit in added BCAAs although I’m not convinced. I’ve misplaced the folder with my collection of PWO studies so I’m working from memory.

As I recall bloodwork showed there were plenty of AAs floating around just with the hydrolysed protein. The main reason to add leucine and d-phenylalanine is for their insulin boosting properties. The more leucine and d-phenylalanine, the higher insulin goes and levels of the other AAs drop. This shows that not only do you get an insulin boosting effect but the higher insulin does lead to a greater uptake of AAs.
