After clocking up some sessions on the free weights, I felt confident enough to ask my trainer Henry about adjusting my routine to suit the heavier weights and building my strength. The shape of my body had changed little from what I could see but there was no denying my increased strength. When I first started going to the gym I was a sweaty mess after only a few minutes, now I could sit on the rower and pull and pull, the machine swaying under my enthusiasm.

Just over one sweat-filled year has passed since I took on the challenge of total body transformation, and, as I slip on a pair of well-worn sneakers, I think about how far they have taken me.
I bought the shoes to go with my gym membership. This would be my first serious attempt at getting fit. If I was to be serious, I thought, I needed the gear – and if I failed and gave up, the expensive footgear would serve as a niggling reminder of my laziness and unfulfilled dream. Read more

First up was leg curls, just 2 warm up sets to get the blood flowing through the quads, then on to leg press.

Tuesday night is chest night, probably the most trained body part of them all, but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t one of my favorites.
To start I isolated the chest with a couple of sets of incline flys, cables or dumbells will do the job, then it’s straight on to Incline barbell press - 3 sets slow and controlled pausing at the bottom of the movement for the count of 1, this will increase intensity and the muscle spends more time under tension!
