Garden City Classic Bodybuilding Competition

This year’s Garden City Classic Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships on Saturday, April 14, were overshadowed by the recent death of veteran female bodybuilder, Jayne Shadbolt-Thin, 42. Along with her husband, well-known trainer, Warren Thin, Jayne had been a force in South Island bodybuilding for many years, and an inspiration to up-and-coming female competitors.
According to reports, Jayne had allegedly been battling a steroid dependency and more recently alcoholism. Her body was found in rugged Christchurch bush and while law enforcement authorities have ruled out foul play, mystery still surrounds her death. The couple have 6 kids between them, and in a sad coincidence, Alison Shadbolt, 16, and my own daughter had been childhood friends.
